If you already know about the many benefits of peppermint tea, then you would surely be interested in drinking this whenever you can. It is not suggested though that you drink a cup of such tea too often because there may be some unwanted side-effects. You should just remember always what people say about having too much of a good thing; it would become bad for you instead. A cup or two of peppermint tea should be enough actually. Even with this amount, you could be sure that you would already feel the positive effects of drinking such tea. Because of this, you should know how to prepare a cup of it.
The first thing that you should do is to check your peppermint plant for the right leaves. The leaves should not be too young or too old already. As much as possible, choose those that still have the right amount of juice in them. This is actually where the nutrients that are beneficial to the body are found. After picking your choices, you should then remove these put them in a tray. Expose the leaves to direct sunlight for some time. Once this is done, you could then shred the leaves into smaller pieces. However, you should shred it into very small sizes.
After the peppermint leaves have been ripped and shredded, you should put these in a tray and let them stay there for a day or more. After a day, the said leaves should already be very dry and brittle. However, if these have not developed to this state yet, then you may have to leave on the tray again for another 24 hours. This is important because the benefits of peppermint tea are much better when the leaves are in the said state of being really dry. Once this state is achieved, the next thing that you may need to do is to boil some water.
You should let the water boil well for about five minutes before you proceed to the next step which is to add the dried peppermint leaves. It is not that you are going to drop the said leaves on the kettle or the pot where you are boiling the water. Instead, you should pour the boiling water a certain amount dried peppermint leaves. For a cup of peppermint tea, two tablespoons of the said leaves would be enough. After pouring the water, cover it with a lid.
The lid should be on the container for at least 10 minutes. Before covering it though, it would be good to add a number of fresh peppermint leaves. This would not only add flavor to the brew but also scent. When this is done, you could then pour the tea into the mugs or cops that you would be using. You may have the option of adding a little sugar to make the beverage that you have just prepared a little sweeter. The sweetness would encourage you to drink more of this and experience the benefits of peppermint tea even better.
